P5 Visit to Armagh Observatory & Planetarium

10th Apr 2025

Primary 5 pupils enjoyed a visit to Armagh Observatory and Planetarium today as part of their topic, Wild Weather.

Sinead gave everyone a guided tour of the weather station, where daily recordings of the weather have been taken for the last 230 years! The boys and girls got to see all the different equipment used to gather the weather data and found out that the four-cup anemometer was actually invented at the Armagh Observatory!  Afterwards, they got to make their own weather recordings of today’s beautiful weather and explored the sundial.

Before heading back to school, there was even time for a walk through the woodland and a spectacular dome show! Thank you to Armagh Observatory and Planetarium for a fantastic day of fun and learning!
