Morecambe Residential - Day 4
It’s hard to believe we are on day 4 and packing for home! Today we made the short journey to Lancaster Castle which is set in the heart of beautiful historical Lancaster City. Our guide James took us around the castle, visiting cells and explaining how children were punished or sentenced to death for crimes such as, stealing a silk handkerchief. Once a year, the Sheriff of Lancaster performs a ceremony at the castle known as, ‘Hanging the Shield’. We were privileged to witness this momentous occasion today. After eating our packed lunches on the castle grounds, we set off for Gretna Green for some retail therapy and last minute presents.
Finally, we made our way to Cairnryan for the final leg of our journey home and enjoyed our dinner on the boat. Our pupils have been an absolute pleasure to be with during the week away and we are very proud of how they have behaved all week, received much praise from hotel staff and public.
