Edinburgh Extravaganza Report

Edinburgh Extravaganza Report

What a great time we're all having in Edinburgh. Day 1 saw us depart school early in the morning and meet our friends from Cope Primary School.  No signs of tiredness, just fun and laughter! After a smooth Stena crossing to Scotland, David our bus driver reached Glasgow where we visited the Planetarium and W5 like Science Museum. James even got to appear on stage tramping on our guide as she lay on a bed of nails!  Mr. Hutchinson showed excellent reactions as a brick was hurled at him from the stage!

Next we made our way through Edinburgh to the Claremont Hotel for dinner, met Alex the manager and quickly headed off on a tour of the Royal Mile to hear lots of myths and stories from Edinburgh's past.  Some of these tales raised the hairs on the backs of many necks!

Day 2, saw us eat a lovely breakfast and meet Liz (our tour guide) who shared lots of history of Edinburgh as David drove us to Holyrood Palace, where the Queen resides when in Edinburgh.  She then took us around the amazing Edinburgh Castle with breathtaking views of the city.  The highlight of the day was when 5 of our children and Mr. Hutchinson got a close up view of the traditional canon blast at 1pm and met the soldiers.  This was a real honour and thrill (thanks Olly Olsen whose children were former pupils of our school!)

The afternoon saw us arrive at the Butterfly and Insect Farm in beautiful clear blue skies.  The children really enjoyed the species of butterflies landing on their heads and Mrs Johnston was fascinated in particular by the snakes and millipedes.  We even managed to find a little time to play some team games in the sunshine and buy souvenirs from the shop.  The evening was spent munching at the Odeon cinema whilst watching Alice Through the Looking Glass.

All now very tired, we headed for our hotel and bed.  Looking forward to Day 3 at M & Ds theme park and Amazonia, before some relaxing 10 pin bowling. (See Day 3 on school Facebook page)
