Childrenโs Mental Health Week in Primary 5
10th Feb 2025
The boys and girls in Primary 5 enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities for Children’s Mental Health Week.
They started off the week by exploring how we can link our emotions to colours. Each child created their own, individual Colour Palette and shared this with the class over the course of the week. ๐จ
We then discussed how it is ok to feel any of these emotions, but it’s how we deal with them that is important. During our discussion time, the children suggested actions that help them through big emotions and each child then created their own, personal Coping Strategies Wheel. ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ผโ๏ธ
We even incorporated Children’s Mental Health Week into our Numeracy and Literacy. In numeracy, the children used a tally chart to identify P5’s favourite relaxation activities and then used this data to create bar charts! In literacy, they began the lesson by playing snakes and ladders with a friend (which everyone loved!) and then wrote instructions on how to play the game. ๐๐ฒ
On Friday, we finished the week by dressing in a colour to represent our emotion and sharing this with the class.
Well done everyone! ๐
